Here's the first post of a series showcasing my favourite Disney outfits. As I mentionned in my very first post, Disney changed my life fashion wise. It helped me assert myself and forget about people's opinions when it comes to clothing. Well, I'm still lacking a lot when it comes to self-confidence, but I feel like I'm on the right track. At first I only wanted to dress up for Disneyland Paris, as I wanted to honour the gorgeous surroundings I was in. And then I figured, why not bring a little bit of magic to myself, and maybe others, on a daily basis. I do not actually have that many pieces of clothing as one might think, as I need to fall in love with every single item I buy. This was the case for this amazing skirt, whose very special feature is that it lights up thanks to dozens of LED lights hidden below the main skirt. I thought I would never get that skirt, as it is sold by Thinkgeek, and it could not be shipped to France. Fortunately, one of my dearest friends was heading over to the US, so I took the chance and asked her to bring it back for me.And I'm so lucky I did. This outfit is inspired by Disneyland Paris' 25th anniversary theme, "It's time to sparkle", in which blue and stars steal the show. The ears are officials from Disneyland California, the top comes from British brand TFNC and the shoes are a combination of a La Redoute pair and Bobbies accessory. I took about 50 pics of this outfit, but like most insecure persons, I hate my face in most of them, so here are the few I actually like. Some of you might think, why the hell are you posting pics your face if you're that insecure? Well, I figured showing myself like this could actually help me feel get used to my appearance and fell better about it. Hopefully it does! Obviously, the lights only show at night or when the lighting is a bit dim, so daylight pics do not actually do justice to the skirt. But a photo shoot requires some good lighting, so here's just a peak of the lit up skirt from a previous day (because I basically wear this skirt every two Disney days now). Finally, I got ot meet Belle and she loved my skirt so much she asked for a little twirl. It may not be a competition but I think the ThinkGeek version might be a little more twirl worthy... maybe too much actually!

2017 surely is an important year for Disneyland Paris, which was launched 25 years ago. The actual anniversary took place on the 12th of April and everyone was excited to see what the parks had in store for us, me included. The park opened at 8am for every guest, and as soon as the doors opened, everyody urged to find a spot in order to watch the opening show. I was both very excited and, I have to admit it, afraid of being disappointed. Fortunately, I wasn't. The opening showThe day thus started off with a very special show that took place from Central Plaza (in front of the castle) to Main Street. Obviously Mickey and Minnie lead the way along with their friends and dancers sporting their best Disneybounds. The show celebrated each land of the park, starting with Main Street USA. At this point, characters came along, from the usual friends to the rarest buddies, joined by performers wearing the most amazing outfits. There were so many surprises that I was hard to capture every single character there. Fortunately, this wasn't the only opportunity to do so. After Main Street USA followed Frontierland, Adventureland, Discoveryland and Fantasyland. Once all the lands were celebrated, many characters came to join the party before Catherine Powell, Disneyland Paris's CEO delivered her speech praising both cast members and guests. Meeting charactersCharacter greetings were also made special on that day thanks to the amazing costuming department from Disneyland Paris. Mickey, Minnie, Chip, Dale, Goofy, Max, Donald, Daisy, Clarice, Duffy and Shellie May were all sporting very special outfits created only for this day. It was almost impossible to watch the shows and meet all the characters so I had to make a choice. The very first one was Clarice, as I had never met her before. She was wearing a gorgeous dress and hat ensemble and was particularly sassy, she was actually hard to follow during the photoshoot. Chip and Dale were also wearing special outfits, I especially loved their little bowler hats. Goofy was incredibly dapper with his three-piece suit and top hat. As for me, I was wearing April and Dinah ears, a lace dress from Y.A.S as a top and the Twinkle skirt from ThinkGeek. Finally, Duffy and Shellie May must have been the toughest to meet on that day as they were so popular, but I managed to see them very quickly thanks to an adorable friend of mine. I was amazed by how soft they were. Real-life teddy bears! The cavalcadeTwo cavalcades were scheduled on the 12th of April, a chance to have a peak at all the characters invited for the occasion. Many of them I didn't even have the time to spot on the opening show. I took many pictures and had to narrow it down to my favorites as this post would have been way longer than it is already. So there were actually much more characters parading on that day. Still, I hope you'll enjoy the peak I'm offering you! This was an amazing day, full of stress and joy, and I'm so happy I've been able to be part of it and share all the excitement with my friends. Let's hope the 30th celebration will be as magical!
I never thought one single place could inspire me so much fashion wise. Disneyland Paris helped me think outside of the box and forget about people's opinion. Even though Paris is one of the most important cities in the world of fashion, it turns out people here dress is in pretty dull, dark, boring way, at least to me. I need colours, I need pastels, glitter, standout creative pieces. I started dressing up to go to Disneyland Paris to fit with the decor, the atmosphere. I then realised this was really who I was and I needed to live colourfully every single day of my life. Founding out about Disney Bounding and Dapper Day also helped me to get more creative with my way of dressing. You'll find below a little selection of my favorite Disney outfits, I hope you'll enjoy it as a little introduction of my style and way of life! |
